Install Xernel for SCUM
This guide covers the Xernel SCUM developer launcher and launch order. See the Xernel SCUM product page for current features and subscriptions.
Download the launcher
Open the Xernel download page, enter your license key and download the launcher. Use the manual download button if the automatic download does not start. Keep the file in a dedicated folder.
Before launching
Close SCUM completely. Enable the NVIDIA or AMD in-game overlay in advance, and review the product's current requirements before activating a subscription.
Launch sequence
- Run the launcher as administrator.
- Paste your full key without extra spaces and select Activate.
- Select SCUM, click Launch and wait for authentication to finish.
- For the first driver-load prompt after restarting Windows, the developer procedure uses Yes. If the driver has already loaded successfully in the current session, use No. Restart Windows if this stage fails repeatedly instead of confirming it over and over.
- Start SCUM after the launcher completes its work.
- Select borderless fullscreen in the game's main menu.
- Press Delete to open the Xernel menu.
Xernel SCUM troubleshooting
Key rejected: check complete copying, surrounding spaces and license expiration.
Download fails: check browser downloads, try the manual download button and inspect your connection.
Authentication error: keep the exact message, close the launcher and compare another network.
Missing menu or black screen: check the overlay and borderless mode, close additional screen recorders and repeat the sequence with the game initially closed.
Low FPS: compare performance with and without the software; record CPU/GPU usage and temperatures.
